Japanese Garden
The small site presented many hidden difficulties which needed addressing before realizing the Japanese landscape requested by our client.
One of the challenges we overcame necessitated installation of a complex system of drains on both levels to allow the planting of damp-hating Pinus Pentaphylla and Juniperus Chinensis ‘Kaizuka’.
The stepping stones and rocks were selected individually for their aged smoothness, unusual veins and shapes. The fresh green, moss-like groundcover Soleirolia Soleirolii brings the peaceful oriental theme right to the doors of the house.
