Our Approach

Our gardens and roof terraces will transform your home and enhance your life.

With years’ of experience, we turn neglected spaces into purposeful, beautiful areas that reflect your aims and dreams, fit your property and increase its value.

We create tailored zones for dining, relaxing, and entertaining, incorporating features such as lap pools, rooftop bars and greenhouses.

Our carefully selected trees and plants provide year-round beauty while improving air quality and promoting biodiversity.

OUR PROCESS

We do offer one-off consultations however the majority of our work involves a full design and build process…

1: Initial meeting & proposal

Each project starts with a phone call, followed by a site visit to assess the possibilities and to hear about your aims and dreams. It would be useful for you to have a budget in mind so that we can discuss realistic and achievable ideas. This is followed by a written proposal from us including fee structure, summary of your brief and our preliminary suggestions.

2: Survey & Plans

We then carry a topographical survey and start working on a concept plan with a 3D visual to illustrate our vision. Once approved, we turn this into a package of working drawings and final specifications, including construction details, a planting plan and a lighting plan (where applicable).

3: Quotes

We then source competitive quotes from a small selection of trusted professional landscape contractors and relevant skilled specialists for you to approve.

4: Build & Plant

During the process we continually monitor and manage the build on our client’s behalf, from beginning to end, until all parties are completely satisfied. We also supervise all the planting and installation of styling elements such as pots, furniture, sculpture and other accessories.

5: Aftercare

Gardens continually evolve and ideally benefit from regular aftercare visits by a skilled maintenance team. Depending on the location, we can organise this or recommend contractors. We can also provide a schedule to keep your garden, roof terrace or landscape in ideal condition for your continued enjoyment.

Maïtanne Hunt has made us fall in love with our garden again. She has amazing vision and a unique skill in bringing together my and my husband’s differing styles and tastes to create a much more useable outdoor space that works in harmony with the interior of our home. Her passion and charm has made the whole journey of redoing our garden a pleasure – we would definitely recommend her.

We offer a wide range of consultation services – from advice on specific areas to maintenance programmes and one-off planting makeovers – but most of our work involves full design and build process.

We collaborate closely with contractors and specialists to deliver the project on time and within the budget.

The full design and build process includes the following:

1: First meeting

This initial consultation is an opportunity to visit the site with you. We go through your aims and needs, assess the environment, identify any potential issues and share preliminary ideas. We also discuss the budget, as this determines what can be achieved, and is the basis for calculating the design fee.

2: Proposal

For a nominal fee, to be deducted from future work, we produce a mood board and a highly detailed proposal that recap our discussion and illustrate our vision. The proposal establishes a budget estimate, design fee, timeframe and next steps.

3: Design

On payment of the design fee, we survey the garden and start work on a concept plan. This provides a detailed visualisation of your future outdoor space, including hard landscape materials, features and a planting palette.

4: Plans

Upon approval of the concept plan, we put together master drawings, 3D visuals, structural details, a lighting plan, planting schedule and a planting plan, from which the project is accurately quoted by professional landscapers. The project can be phased if need be and any required planning applications and tender documents are also carried out at this stage.

5: Build

We monitor the build on our client’s behalf from beginning to end, until all parties are completely satisfied. We source and manage the planting ourselves.

6: Aftercare

Gardens continually evolve and improve with age. We strongly recommend a professional maintenance schedule and can suggest various landscape maintenance teams that we can advise on your behalf. We will also pay twice-yearly visits to follow-up on the development of the project.

7: Costs

Our fee structure operates on a sliding scale, as set by the Society of Garden Designers.

The final cost will vary depending on the size, style, finish, access and complexity of the project.

It is useful for you to have a budget in mind so that we can discuss realistic and achievable ideas during our first meeting.

A large garden does not necessarily mean an increased percentage of the design fee, as it all depends on the complexity of the project and the time it will take to create the design.
